I have had several encounters with Sherman services lately.  First of all, I have utilized the South Elgin Urgent Care recently and I am so impressed with that facility.  They were all very attentive and professional.   I was referred to the Physical Therapy Department at Sherman and choose the South Elgin facility again.  I was again impressed with the staff there!!  I owe my speedy and successful recovery to Jillene and Filomena the Physical Therapists who work there.  They are AWESOME!!!  When I first went there I was very limited in my mobility and had significant pain….6 weeks later I had met all my goals and the pain was almost nothing.  The South Elgin Facility and it’s staff are to be commended for the excellent care that they give!

Yesterday, my mother-in-law took her 91 year old mother to the Algonquin Immediate Care Center as she was having trouble reading/comprehending, etc. and she feared she might be having a stroke.  The staff at Algonquin realized right away that she needed to be at the hospital and arranged for a transfer.  She has a super experience in the short time she was there.

Upon arrival at the ED, she was met with nothing but wonderful nurses, clinicians, and doctors.  Her main nurse was great, alleviated her anxiety right away by telling her that she herself had a similar condition some nine years ago.  Lynda Duncan was great, she kept checking to see how she was doing.  Sabrina from the lab was wonderful, grandma commented on how she didn’t even feel a thing when her blood was being drawn.  Dr. Patel was kind, caring, and compassionate.  He took his time to explain things to grandma and my mother-in-law.  Radiology was also wonderful from the woman who performed the CT Scan to the person who took her chest x-ray.

I did not see her to her room, but this morning received a call from my mother-in-law who said she could not believe HOW NICE EVERYONE WAS.  I know nice seems like a easy word, but NICE goes a long way!  My mother-in-law was leaving for the weekend and left grandma in her brother’s care, but she said “I can go away and have no anxiety because mom is happy and resting peacefully because the nurses and aides are bring so nice to her.”  I have to admit, everyone I came into contact with yesterday in the ED did AIDET fully and it does make a difference, people notice.

It is unusual these days to find a health care facility that creates the outstanding customer service experience from the moment you call for the appointment. I have recently been to Sherman Hospital for a CT Scan and then a follow-up outpatient procedure. It is my first experience with your facility and I was surprised at the superior service from each and every point of contact. The registration process was fast, professional and attentive with the same level of customer service during the CT Scan to my outpatient procedure.

I believe that we always share a bad experience however do not always take the time to share the GREAT experiences. I would like to applaud Sherman Hospital for creating a customer focused organization where each and every patient counts. I was in awe of the consistent patient care that I received as well as what I observed with other patients. I would like to mention those individuals who I had the pleasure of meeting during my recent visits:

Martin/Registration, Yolanda/Medical Imaging, Sharon/CT Tech, Carol/Pre-Op Nurse, Linda H. and Diana V./Surgical Nurses, Debbie/Recovery and a very nice young lady who assisted me via wheelchair when I left.

I received the follow-up post-op call on Friday and again was surprised at the ongoing customer care. I have shared my experience with several people including my primary care physician, Dr. Mary George, expressing that this is not a typical health care facility as they always go above and beyond patient expectation
