Joan Writes:
A few years ago my Mom had to be taken to Sherman’s Emergency Department. The care she received from the entire staff, especially the ER doctor, was wonderful. As it turned out she visited many times over and eventually passed away at Sherman.
Recently, I had to bring my son to the ER as he had hurt himself at school. As it turned out the very same doctor that had treated my Mom treated my son. I remembered him because everything that happened to my Mom will always stay with me, but what I found so comforting was that he actually remembered us and what had happened to my Mom as well.
Going to the ER can be scary especially when you bring in someone you love so much. But, to see a familiar face each time, hear a genuine concern and to know the doctor remembered even after all these years, made a scary time a little better. I am still amazed he remembered as I’m sure he has since seen hundreds of patients, but it made me feel more comfortable putting my son in his care.
Though you never want to have to go or bring someone to an ER, knowing I can go there and find a caring and familiar doctor is something I wanted to write about. I feel bad that I cannot remember his name, but if I ever have the need to use the ER services again, I will be sure to get his name as I think him and the entire staff are wonderful.
Thank you for letting me write my story.

Dear Caregivers at Sherman Hospital:
I am writing this to you to inform you of my experience with Sherman Hospital and its staff of care givers. On February 23, 2009, I had a radical prostatectomy performed by my urologist, Dr. Khanna, at Sherman Hospital. While I had confidence in your hospital staff, all who I came in contact with exceeded my expectations. From the first nurses, assistants, and the anesthesiologist doctor who prepared me for the surgery; to the nurse who first spoke to me in recovery, attentively placing an oxygen mask on my face; to the attendant who transported me to my room and to the nurses who attended to me on all three shifts; to the doctor who administered anesthesia checking daily on me, to those checking my vitals; to those bringing me my meals. The courtesy extended, the patience, the professionalism and the dedication of your entire staff could not have been more exemplary than that which I had experienced.
I have been familiar with Sherman Hospital for many years. This past experience of mine just substantiates my confidence in the excellence of your staff.
Thank you –all of you,
Ron
