I wanted to comment on a recent experience my 80 year old mother and I had at Sherman. My mom is in a wheelchair and had to have an MRI. She needs help with transfers and cannot walk unassisted. Our MRI Technician, Jaz, was kind, patient and very helpful with my mother. He explained the procedure and made it a pleasant experience. Thanks for your help, Jaz!

We are moving and need lots of boxes for packing. I called Central Supply and they were so kind to save us many good, clean packing boxes. One of the employees, Joel, went the extra mile and helped us load them in our car which we appreciated so very much. Thank you, Joel, and also the other nice people in Central Supply.

I was admitted to your facility on December 4, 2011 following an episode later diagnosed as a Transient Ischemic Attack. I came in via ambulance from Sherman Immediate Care on Randall Rd and stayed overnight in the Stoke Care Center. Quite honestly, most of the events leading up to the time I was finally discharged is still a blur. Read the rest of this entry »

I had a homebirth with my daughter but when she was 3 months old in October of 2010 I was hospitalized for 6 full days. I am a breastfeeding/co sleeping mother and Sherman was VERY supportive. I was very nervous about the antibotics, pain meds, and surgical procedures would interfere with breastfeeding but the entire staff was VERY supportive. In fact, the LC’s (Jill League) were there every step of the way making sure that all the techs, nurses, and doctors were on board with making sure I never had to stop breastfeeding or “pump & dump” at any time.

Thanks SHERMAN for making such a scary illness a better situation than it could have been. I’m very impressed with all the efforts Sherman is taking in becoming a baby friendly hospital and am very shocked Sherman Hospital is not yet on the BFHI list. Let me know if there is anything I can personally do to speed that process along!!

My father in law presented to the ER on Sunday night (2/12/12) under critical circumstances. I wanted to let you know about the great care he received from Kristy Sheehan, Jackie Pearson, and Dr. Zahn. They were amazing, working quickly to determine the cause of the symptoms he was having and providing the necessary care and ultimately handing his care over to Dr. Steimle and the open heart OR team – Elizabeth RN and Dr. Ward who worked for 10+ hours to help him. I cannot thank all of the people that worked so tirelessly in efforts to make him well.

Unfortunately, God had other plans for him. Read the rest of this entry »

On December 19, 2011, my first day of retirement after 44 years of working, I had an accident that tore off my patellar tendon (located near the quadriceps muscle). The place of the accident was very close to another hospital, but for a personal reason I chose to come to Sherman.

I wanted to take an opportunity to thank Dr. Imdad and the Sherman infusion team for bringing me back to a good state of health after having a severe kidney infection. They did a great job!
