Emergency Dept employee on her outpatient surgery

I had the privilege of being a patient at Sherman Hospital on January 20th. I had an outpatient surgery. It made me so proud to be a part of such a great team. The people who took care of me were kind, caring and sincere. I could tell that they loved their work and not just fulfilling a job.

Some of the employees who were a part of my great experience were: Debbie from registration, Violeta RN my preoperative nurse, Kari RN, Randy RN, Michelle and Missy from surgery and Lynda RN and Mary RN from recovery.

It was hard not to be the nurse that I have been for 31 years and become a patient, but everyone made me feel special and at ease with the surgery. These people have made a very positive mark on my life and I thank you.

“Staff was great, from beginning to end”

I would like to give Royal Blvd Immediate Care a great score. I can’t give you names because I may miss a few. My husband fell on the ice and needed attention via workmen’s comp. I decided that Royal would be the best place to go. Everyone was great (most of the employees we dealt with didn’t know that I was an employee of the hospital).

The very caring staff made sure my husband was in no pain. The two doctors were very informative of what was going on. My husband does need to see an Ortho Doc; we’re not sure if it’s broken. The doctors were very concerned. Lot of swelling and redness. We will know more in the next few days. But once again the staff from beginning to end were great. Some of the employees I talk to on the phone and now they said they can put a face to the voice.

I wanted to give a compliment to the Women’s Health Dept. This was my first time having a Mammogram and am an employee her at Sherman Hospital. I was so impressed with the services. Very welcoming and helpful. Faith, I don’t think I can say enough about her, she was so comforting through the whole experience she explained everything before she started, talked me through the process and after asked if I had any question feel free to ask. She told me how long it would take her to do it and after she explained what would happen with the results, when to expect a call. She was so professional. When you have not had this done before and someone makes you feel comfortable doing it. You want to give a compliment to someone like Faith because these type of employee are the ones that keep the patients coming back.

I just recently had a baby at Sherman and wanted to praise the nurses that I had in Labor and Delivery and in Mother Baby:
Alisha-PM’s, Nancy-Days, Tammy-PM’s, Annette-Days, Jocelyn-NOC’s, Robin day RN & the day dietary aide sorry cant remember her name.

I have never been a patient at Sherman and this was my first baby and they made it feel like home and made the experience unforgettable even tho the delivery was not easy for me. Nancy helped me thru the worst of it, she hugged everyone before her shift ended and even took the time the next day to come and see how we were doing which meant a lot to us.

My call light was answered within seconds and even if I was not their patient someone always came right away to help me. So just wanted to let you and them know how much their kindness, caring, and compassion towards me and my family meant to us. We can not say THANK YOU ENOUGH!!!

A mother thanks terrific Sherman doctors

I have been using ob/gyn services at Sherman for 20 years. My daughter was born 20 years ago at the old Sherman. At 53, I obviously have different OB (none)/GYN services than my daughter.

However, my daughter and I each know Dr. Barthell and she is an exceptional communicator. I have had the “pleasure” of multiple surgeries and my daughter has severe ovarian cystic problems. Dr. Barthell has called on her time off, explained procedures, proceeded with appropriate treatment, and is addressing my daughter’s 3-4 day/month extreme pain, reassuring my very scared daughter.

When Barthell was not available and I had problems after a hysterectomy, Dr. Korzen stood up to the plate and in her no-nonsense approach helped me. Both Barthell and Korzen performed a “routine” hysterectomy but took the time (literally hours longer) to save me an ovary. Nurse Lynn Ferrell has been with Sherman for as long as I can remember. Her candor, humor, and ability to appease fear are remarkable. In fact, she held my hand during a procedure I got thru in the office instead of being admitted because of strengths. Thank you. They are terrific.

I recently spent 6 days at Sherman being treated for pneumonia. This was my first addmission to a hospital. It was an amazing experience.

I felt so loved and well cared for, I am so thankful. Thankful for the top notch, new facility, thankful for the incredible staff. They were so helpful, knowledgable, tender, and caring I can not say enough good about them. I was on the 6th floor between Jan 5th and 10th. Thank you x 3!

I have comissioned an artist friend to do a painting that I would like to donate to the hospital in honor of the terrific staff.

Great praise for the Sherman Emergency and Critical Care teams

I wanted to bring to your attention how grateful my family and I are for the care that my father received while in the Emergency Department and Critical Care Unit on December 8, 2011. My father, also an employee here at Sherman, became critically ill very unexpectedely and was admitted. It was by far one of the scariest days our family has ever encountered, but the care and consolation we received from staff really helped to ease our anxiety.

It also helped to know that my father was being treated by people that know him and care for him. For this reason, we were hesitant about transferring my father to another hospital, although we did have a pleasant experience at the second hospital as well. Everyone was very attentive not only to my father, but also to our family. I would like to recognize from Critical Care, Oosa RN, Karen RN, Fabian RN, Elle unit secretary, the nurses’ aid that was on staff that day, and so many others, for being very patient and for answering all of our questions.

Also, Dr. Grassi, Dr. Malinski, and Dr. Materiah were on top of things every step of the way and kept us updated as the day went on. One last person I would love to recognize is Gerry from ultrasound. She not only performed her tasks, but also took the time to console my brother and I and made sure that we understood everything that was happening. It was nothing short of a bad day to say the least, but it was made so much more bearable with the care that my father received.

Hello,

My mother, Esther, was a patient in your facility in room 1205 from 12/30/11 to 1/4/12. As a health care professional who has worked in many hospitals, I feel particularly qualified to evaluate the quality of her care. It was excellent in every way.

Her nurses and respiratory team were skilled, professional, and caring. She and her family were kept informed and updated about her condition at all times. All her needs were promptly met. Dietary and housekeeping services were outstanding. Everything was organized and efficient, and she consequently made a quick recovery.

Thanks to everyone involved in her care. A special thank you to Dr. Lewison and her nurses Mercie and Albert for their kindness and professional care.

This is only 4 months late, but I just wanted to let you know how wonderful your Labor & Delivery nurses are! My wife gave birth to our daughter there, and it was great experience! We’d like to single out Kelle in L & D, as she was with us all day, and even stayed to make sure she was there for the delivery. Thanks again!
