I had to bring my daughter into the ER. She was very ill and was admitted. I definitely want to praise ER Dr. Bruckner first and foremost, who was very thorough in explaining what was happening and in explaining her diagnosis. Most importantly he was so caring and considerate. As for ER nurses Jim, Jan, Katrina, Karen S., Jenny and Jen – they were awesome in making my daughter feel as comfortable as possible and explaining everything they were going to do, step-by-step. They really showed their motherly warmth.

As for the pediatric floor, great praise and thanks to Dr. Hogg and Dr. Coker from Childrens. I can’t say enough about them! They were awesome. These physicians were very thorough in explaining the care they were providing to my daughter and were also so very caring. Most of all, they made my daughter feel comfortable. My thanks also to pediatric nurses Theresa, Rina, Michelle, Divine, Barb, and Lilian who took great pride in what they do at Sherman. These nurses really went out of their way to make sure my daughter Lexi felt relaxed and comfortable while during her stay at Sherman.

Room Service also did a great job every time I called to place Lexi’s order for breakfast, lunch and dinner. They were very patient and they knew what diet she was on and what she could and couldn’t have. I also have to give praise to the Ultrasound and Cat Scan departments. They too did an awesome job explaining the procedure and exactly what was going to be done.

I had felt it was important to recognize the staff above to know what they really do does make a difference in a patient’s life and experience at Sherman.

Thank You All and God Bless!

The staff there has always been outstanding, particularly Joy and Donnis. They are prompt, professional, and practice a level of care that is unmatched in my 15 years of treatment as a cardiac/ PVD patient. In addition to managing my blood levels (which is challenging), they also go out of their way to accommodate my unpredictable work schedule. Any questions I have are researched and answered sometimes even with an evening or weekend call. Their dedication always exceeds my expectations. Again, I commend that staff for everything they do for all of us!

Dear Friends,

I thought I would send a letter of thanks, from my wife and me, for the wonderful care that we have received at Sherman Hospital.

I was born at this hospital over sixty-eight years ago, and most of my family has gone through here at one time or another. I and my wife lived and worked in North Carolina for 31 years before returning to Elgin. My wife worked at a hospital in North Carolina for 23 years and knows something about hospitality and patient care. I am happy to say the south has nothing on us, especially at Sherman. Your people have name tags, your nurses and yes, even some doctors acknowledge you when walking the corridors of Sherman.

So now, my wife and I are retirees. We spend a lot of our time here with all of you. My wife has renal failure and spends time in dialysis three times a week. She also has other problems which puts her in rooms as a patient quite often. I am a cancer patient getting care from your oncology unit.

But getting back to the real reason for this letter is to acknowledge and thank those wonderful people that care for us. You have some very special nurses (or angels) that have cared for us. I do not want to leave all out, because I do not recall all of them. ICU – Jillian, Oosa, a lot of nurses on the floors, I cannot remember. Joni, and I think JoAnn. Dialysis – Michelle, MaryAnn and Virginia. Virginia has a daughter who works in the surgical area. Vanessa just lights up the room. And those very special Oncology nurses Lisa, Cherie and Sally.

Doctors are hard to spell, but Dr. Tommy Cao is exceptional. We have a host of others but cannot get all their names.

In closing we would like to thank all of you for our care.

Anonymous

After not feeling well for awhile my mother was diagnosed with congestive heart failure in late June, and was being treated by Dr. Malinski. July 1st I took her for a routine visit to the Heart Failure Center run by Kara Aalfs, RN.

While being checked she went into severe A-fib. Between the fast action of Kara, Dr. Malinski, and the all the other nurses there she underwent a successful cardio version.

Fast forward to July 28th. While she was being treated with medications we went to another ‘routine’ follow up visit with Kara. While being checked she went into heart block! Again the same people did wonderful work!

Long story short she received a pacemaker on July 30th, and is doing much better.

Given the difficult nature of the problems things could not have been handled better by EVERYONE there. Even the routine visits for x-rays, blood draws, etc. have all gone smoothly.

I don’t think she would be here today if it were not for the outstanding work done by the entire staff of Sherman Hospital, Dr. Malinski, and his partners.

Thank you

As you might recall, my mother in law had been in Sherman Hospital recently – and unfortunately, passed away last week. I wanted to take a couple of minutes to let you know of the exceptional care she received by the entire staff in the Cardiac Critical Care Unit.

The staff made certain that she received whatever she wanted – and they were always concerned about us, the family, as well. Not a visit went by that we weren’t amazed by the care, kindness and compassion displayed by everyone we encountered. Because she was on a ventilator, my mother in law wasn’t able to communicate verbally – but that never stopped the countless doctors, nurses, aides, technicians, etc., from communicating with her and providing the superior service and care that we saw throughout her stay.

In addition to Dr. Choh’s nurse, Donna (what a wonderful person she is), there was one other nurse that we grew really fond of and who was really great. I don’t know what her given name is – but she goes by “KK”.

It takes someone special to do the type of work that we witnessed being done by the CCC Unit. Sherman is fortunate to have gathered so many – and we were fortunate that they were there to take care of our family member. My mother in law was at Sherman for 5 weeks – and our family will never forget the kindness and compassion – as well as the best medical care possible – that was afforded to her during that time.

-Mary

I realize that I will be receiving a survey in the mail regarding my day surgery at Sherman, which I will gladly complete. However, I do feel that I have to write to you personally to emphasize how well I was treated by all – i.e. Dr. Reiff, Dr. Ward and all the nurses etc. The Day Surgery Dept. is run most efficiently without losing the personal touch. I would like you to relay this information and my heartfelt thanks to all concerned. It was a pleasure rather than an ordeal having my eye surgery. By the way, my husband, who accompanied me, was also treated very nicely and sends his thanks.
